VIRTUAL PROGRAM
Presented by Amber Bauer Music (ABM)
KEYTUNES Virtual is a piano-based online program where students learn to chord and sing popular songs through live group tutorials and video instruction. While learning fully online, students still develop stage presence and real performance skills, with the option to set up and perform a house concert for friends and family by the end of the year—supported throughout the program with ongoing chat and video feedback.
What Does This Program Look Like?
• Students learn 4–6 songs over the course of the year through bi-weekly 90-minute live online group tutorials, running from September to May. • Students work on one song at a time, spending approximately 3–8 weeks per song depending on difficulty. • Each song is supported by step-by-step instructional videos, weekly accountability to-do lists, and ongoing message and video support. • Students submit practice videos bi-weekly for evaluation and feedback, helping keep progress steady between tutorials.
What Does a 90 Min. Tutorial Look Like?
Each live tutorial is intentionally structured so students are always learning skills in context, not in isolation: • Instructor-led song learning — Amber teaches while students listen and follow along, covering chording, vocals, rhythm, parts, and musical decisions directly tied to the song we’re working on. • Keyboard theory, taught in a practical, applied way that connects directly to the song and helps students understand why things work. • Technique and skill-building, chosen specifically to support the song and develop improvisation skills and confidence. All sections are song-driven and applied, helping students learn how to improvise and play more freely.

Who Can Sign Up?
Ages 10 and up. No experience needed!
Does a Guardian Need to Assist With Video Learning and Attend Live Zoom Tutorials?
For students ages 10-12 and under, guardian support is required at the beginning of the program and continues until Amber feels the student is ready to work independently. Guardian support may also be requested again at any point throughout the year if needed. There is a significant initial learning curve with this style of playing and learning, involving both the technology and the development of improvisational music skills. While chording and improv ultimately allow students to learn songs much faster than traditional sight-reading, improv charts provide a less detailed roadmap at first. Unlike reading music—where every note is written out—these charts require students to recognize and memorize musical shapes and patterns. Once those patterns are understood, they become universal across songs, allowing students to play almost anything with ease. And when it clicks… it’s truly amazing to watch!
What Is the Time Commitment Required?
• The program runs from September to May, with students attending bi-weekly tutorials. • 10–20 minutes bi-weekly to record and submit progress or final practice videos. • 5–30 minutes per week to watch and review assigned lesson videos. • 1–5 hours of practice per week, based on what works best for your family’s schedule. Please note:
If a student is not regularly engaging with the video content (watching lessons and submitting videos) and begins to fall behind the group, Amber may require occasional private lesson sign-up at an additional cost to help the student stay on track.
Student Annual Fees Include:
• Live Online Group Tutorials: Bi-weekly • Lesson Videos: Independent practice references for each song, containing the same instructional content as the tutorials. • Technique Videos: Supplementary technique challenges and skill-building exercises, as applicable. • ABM Charts: Complete charts including lyrics, chords, transcribed parts, and rhythm patterns. • Progress Evaluations: Bi-weekly evaluations for each song following the submission of a progress video. • Final Evaluations: A final evaluation per song after the final video is submitted. • Practice Accountability: Step-by-step to-do lists sent weekly through the app to support consistent practice. • Practice Space App: Membership access included in monthly tuition, with ongoing video and chat support from Amber during office hours (Monday–Wednesday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.). • Digital Reward System: A fun, incentivized digital reward system designed especially for younger students.
