ABOUT

"I have been climbing onto a piano bench, singing in the shower, and scribbling lyrics in my journal for what seems like forever. Or at least as far back as I can remember. My mother is kind of the Mr. Holland of the county: one of the most gifted and inspiring music teachers you will ever meet, hands down. She exudes goodness and hope, just like your favourite tune. The image of my father sitting beside the fire, picking out a classic melody on the guitar, fiddle, banjo or mandolin will be forever etched in my mind. The romance between music and my heart was inevitable."    Amber Bauer

Musician, Songwriter, Music Teacher, Recording Artist – Amber Bauer’s life IS music.

Born and raised in small town Vermilion, Alberta, to a music teaching mother and a multi-instrumentalist father, the collision between music and Amber’s heart was inevitable. In 2008, she broke into the music scene as a piano/Hammond organ player and backup vocalist for Jesse Farrell. She has since supported (and continues to support) various other artists such as Lisa Brokop, the Small Town Pistols, Victoria Banks, Tenille Townes, indy pop sensation Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Clayton Bellamy of the Road Hammers and The Lovelocks. Furthermore, Amber had the opportunity to sing backup vocals for Lindsay Ell, High Valley, Bobby Wills, Jason Blaine, and Madeleine Merlo, at the Gala and Industry Awards during CCMA week 2014. In addition to appearances at various festivals and venues while touring the country, Amber appears in the videos: Living on the Outside (Small Town Pistols), and You Make Me Feel (Jessie Farrell).

Her solo career gained momentum in 2010 when Canadian Country Star George Canyon signed her as the pilot artist for his new label, Broken Pick Records. Amber toured with George, was featured on stage, and released her first single to radio, Buy Your Tears (co-written and produced by Canyon). Amber has opened for Emerson Drive, and shared songwriter round stages with Duane Steele, Brett Kissel and Jake Matthews.

Amber released her first full-length album in November of 2014, recorded at Beaird Music Group in Nashville and CCMA Studio of the Year, MCC, in Calgary. She is excited to share her story through her music. Her country roots and soulful pop flare evoke a range of emotions within her fans. With the grit of Bonnie Raitt, the sleek beauty of Carrie Underwood, and the soulful calm of Norah Jones, Amber is destined to move any heart with her music and songwriting.

A personal take on her newest single “Unity” and how she got involved with Opportunity International:

“It has been in my heart for quite a few years to use my love for music and songwriting to advocate for greater purposes. I have enjoyed being a supporter and volunteer with a number of global NGO’s throughout my life and most recently, Opportunity International. Over the past several years, I have spent time reading and wondering how to spark interest in Opportunity’s dignified mission. The song “Unity” is about the last being first in a world with equal opportunity.  May we all stand together, united, to bring Opportunity to those shackled in and drowning in poverty.”
